An estimated 40.3 million people were living in modernslavery( forcedlabor and forcedmarriage )in 2016. Women and girls make up 71% of victims. Nepal ranks 55/167 countries in prevalence in the Global Slavery Index 2018 with an estimated 171,000 persons living as modern slaves.
