GENDER BALANCE IN THE CANDIDACY FOR LOCAL BODIES ELECTION 2017(PHASE 1)

The Local Level Election Act 2017 mandated the provision of candidacy of a woman for the post of mayor/chairman or deputy mayor/chairman in the local bodies elections. However, political parties have selected women mostly for the post of Deputy mayor/chairman than for the post of mayor/chairman.
