ADOLESCENT SAFE ABORTION SERVICE USERS 2016/17

Of the 96,417 safe abortions carried out in Nepal in 2016/17, 13,334 (13.8%) service users were adolescents (aged 10-19). 53.53% opted for the slightly riskier Surgical abortion, and 46.47% opted for Medical abortion which offers more privacy and less invasiveness. Province 3 recorded the highest number of safe abortions among adolescents while Province 6 had the lowest.
