Of the total cane sugar (sugar made from the juice of sugarcane) imports to Nepal, 86.75% were from Pakistan. This is because cane sugar from Pakistan is cheaper than other sources, and the import tax on it is lower (6%) for SAARC countries. Only 1.84% of cane sugar imports were from India.
