KATHMANDU: The Department of Livestock Services (DoLS) has said the bird flu has been spreading at a faster rate, largely affecting poultry production across the country.
Ram Nandan Tiwari, Director General of the DoLS, said the avian flu has been going out of control across the country. In an interaction organized by the DoLS, Tiwari said the flu is affecting different variants of chicken, geese, turkey, crow, guinea fowl and pheasant mainly in Province 1, Madhesh Province, Bagmati Province and Gandaki Province since mid-January this year.
According to the DoLS, the disease has been taking grip mainly in the poultry production in Morang, Sunsari, Kathmandu, Sindhupalchok, Kaski, Udayapur, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Parsa, Makwanpur, Dhanusha and Bara districts. The government body has sought the authorities concerned to enforce strict restrictions on the transport of poultry products to check the spread of bird flu.
