Nepal’s COVID-19 tally climbs to 17,884 as 186 more test positive in past 24 hours, 11,868 recover so far

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) reported 186 new cases of the coronavirus disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total number to 17,884.

As of Monday afternoon, a total of 319,872 real time PCR tests have been conducted including 4,216 at 27 different COVID-19 labs throughout the country in the past 24 hours.

Spokesperson for the MoHP, Dr Jageshwar Gautam, speaking during a virtual media briefing of the ministry today, said that as many as 173 more COVID-19 patients were discharged after recovery in the last one day. He added that 11,868 of the total infected patients so far have returned home after winning COVID-19. The recovery rate in Nepal is 66.51 per cent.

Nepal now has 5,936 active cases while 22,228 patients are quarantined across the country.

Nepal so far has reported 40 cases of fatalities due to COVID-19 infection.
