KATHMANDU: Three districts in the Kathmandu Valley have reported as many as 127 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the past 24 hours.

According to spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), Dr Jageshwar Gautam, 111 more people were diagnosed with this viral infection in Kathmandu district alone while 11 and five people tested positive in Lalitpur and Bhaktapur, respectively.

The Valley has witnessed more than 100 new COVID-19 cases on three consecutive days. MoHP confirmed 134 and 138 infections on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively. Similarly, the Valley reported 92 cases on Sunday while new cases on Monday stood at 44.

As new cases keep increasing in the country including the capital Valley following the lifting of the nearly four-month long nationwide lockdown, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) on Wednesday directed all 77 District Administration Offices (DAOs) in the country to suspend issuing ‘vehicle passes’ being distributed so far for inter-district travel starting Thursday. This directive will remain effective until further notice.
